Fleischer Stops By Packers Training
Camp To Offer Media Advice To Players
The AP's Chris Jenkins reports Ari Fleischer Sports Communications President Ari Fleischer Thursday at Packers training camp spoke to players for "about an hour." The session "was scheduled several weeks ago," and while Fleischer "didn't focus on how players should handle the simmering [Brett Favre] controversy in interviews, the subject certainly came up." Overall, Fleischer "advised players that having a good relationship with the media can enhance their image and help their career" (AP, 8/1).

TAKING THE FIELD: A youth baseball field at the COA Youth & Family Centers in Milwaukee has been named Selig Youth Field, in honor of MLB Commissioner BUD SELIG and his wife, SUE, who "made a significant donation to COA's 100th anniversary campaign." The project raised $6.15M, surpassing the organization's goal of $5.8M (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 8/1).

TIME TO PAY UP: NBA wives group Behind the Bench BOD member CHARISSE JACKSON-JORDAN, the wife of Wizards coach EDDIE JORDAN, was ordered to pay $215,000 to MGM and Wynn Hotels in Las Vegas, along with event planning groups the Stanley Agency and Standards Inc., for "stiffing them after" the "Touching a Life" gala during the '07 NBA All-Star Weekend (N.Y. NAMES: MLS Galaxy MF DAVID BECKHAM makes a guest appearance in the upcoming season premier of "Sesame Street," which debuts in the U.S. on August 11. IN MEMORY: Former CFLer and TSN broadcaster LEIF PETTERSEN died Wednesday at the age of 57 after suffering a heart attack in his Toronto home. Olympico CEO KEITH PELLEY said of Pettersen, "He had what every guy wants: Great looks, great athletic skills, great intelligence, great family" (TORONTO STAR, 8/1).
