UH Proposing Stadium Improvements; Dynamo Plans Unchanged

The Univ. of Houston (UH) is proposing a $38.7M addition to Robertson Stadium, according to Jeannie Kever of the HOUSTON CHRONICLE. The plan, which will be presented to UH's BOG on August 5 and to the full board of regents August 19, includes the building of "luxury suites and club seats, a new locker room, offices and classroom space." Of the $38.7M cost, "$18[M] will come from private donations," and the additions "could be completed by the 2010 football season." However, the improvements apparently "would not be enough to persuade" the MLS Dynamo, who currently play at Robertson Stadium, to "remain on campus and drop plans for a stadium of their own." Dynamo President & GM Oliver Luck said that he "was pleased to hear about UH's renovation but does not expect it to change his team's plans" (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 7/31).
