In Utah, Linda Hamilton profiles ECHL Utah Grizzlies co-Owner DAVID ELMORE, who also owns five minor league baseball teams, under the header, "Risk Built An Empire For Elmore." The Elmore Sports Group has owned hockey teams in San Antonio, Florida and Virginia, two AFL teams and an indoor soccer team in Florida. The group also has operated the Centennial Management & Diamond Creations, a ballpark in Colorado Springs, Sports Mark Management Group, marketing firm Pro Sports Network and various hotels in Hawaii (DESERET NEWS, 7/29).
MSG LAWSUIT: Caterer LAURA WARD is suing MSG because she was "passed over for plum shifts serving food to the Knicks and Rangers." The suit names two MSG managers and execs, including VP/Employee & Labor Relations JOHN MORAN, who "previously came under fire in the sexual-harassment case" brought against MSG by former exec ANUCHA BROWNE SANDERS (N.Y. POST, 7/29).
NAMES: Senators Owner EUGENE MELNYK has "dropped his quest to topple" Biovail Corp.'s BOD and managers, and instead will "turn his attention to building a new private pharmaceutical venture."
