By John Lombardo, Staff Writer, SportsBusiness Journal
AFL owners have formally approve the sale of the New York Dragons to a group headed by Steven Silva from Islanders Owner Charles Wang, who had owned the team since '00. Silva is President & COO of Chem Rx, a New York-based institutional pharmacy services company. Terms of the sale were not immediately available. The approval comes as AFL owners meet in New Orleans, where on Sunday the San Jose Sabercats will play the Philadelphia Soul in the ArenaBowl Championship at New Orleans Arena.
GROWING THE GAME: The AFL also announced that is reached an agreement with 2PLUS, a Dusseldorf, Germany-based sports marketing company, to explore ways to grow the indoor game in Germany. The league said that one of the concepts under consideration is an exhibition game in Germany. A group of AFL executives will tour Germany in mid-August to study the game’s international potential.
