MLB NOTES: MLB broadcasts on FSN RSNs through the All-Star Game drew the highest average primetime cable ratings in 12 markets, including eight of the top 20 DMAs. Additionally, MLB telecasts on FSN RSNs ranked third or higher against broadcast networks in seven of those markets (FSN)....CSN Philadelphia's coverage of Wednesday's Mets-Phillies game earned an 9.2 HH rating (273,000 HHs), marking the net's highest-rated MLB game this season, eclipsing Tuesday night's 8.5 HH rating for the same matchup. The 9.2 also marks the third most-watched Phillies game in CSN history and was the most-watched program, broadcast or cable, in the Philadelphia market on Wednesday evening (CSN Philadelphia)....Wednesday night's Mets-Phillies game on SportsNet N.Y. earned a 5.0 HH rating (486,000 viewers) in the N.Y. DMA, marking the highest-rated Mets game this season. The game also garnered the net's highest rating ever in the adult and male 25-54 demos since the net launched in '06 (SNY)....On FSN Arizona, Wednesday night's D'Backs-Cubs game earned a 6.2 HH rating (111,761 HHs) marking the top-rated show in the market for the night. During the first half of the MLB season, the net's D'Backs telecasts averaged a 4.6 HH rating, the highest average primetime cable rating in the Phoenix DMA for those dates (FSN Arizona).
FUEL INJECTION: Through the first half of the '08 NHRA Powerade Series, ratings for Sunday's elimination rounds on ESPN2 are up 30% and HHs are up 34% over '07, according to league sources. Coverage ratings have jumped from 0.5 last year to 0.7 this year, while the HHs have increased from 490,357 to 659,340 (Michael Smith, SportsBusiness Journal)
