Auction Off Yankee Stadium Memorabilia
TRASH TURNED TREASURE: BLOOMBERG NEWS' Sessa & Marcinek reported the Yankees are working with the city of N.Y., which owns Yankee Stadium, "on a deal to auction memorabilia" before the ballpark is torn down. Sports memorabilia execs said that the ballpark's "blue plastic seats alone could generate more than $20[M]." Meanwhile, the Mets, who are moving to Citi Field before the '09 season, are "negotiating a separate arrangement to sell pieces" of Shea Stadium (BLOOMBERG NEWS, 7/17).

Meanwhile, Red Sox Senior VP/Planning & Development Janet Marie Smith "wants fans to dine out around Fenway Park all year round." And Smith said that Red Sox officials "continue to look at bringing restaurants to [a] pair of club-owned properties outside the ballpark, including the Town Taxi building on Ipswich Street" (BOSTON HERALD, 7/18).

NOTES: In Boston, Kimberly Blanton reports the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston will hold an August 12 event "to help homeowners prevent foreclosure" at Gillette Stadium. The event will be held "in a corporate clubhouse overlooking the field and stands."
