MLB, Hamilton Benefit From This Week's
All-Star Game At Yankee Stadium |
WIN: MLB IN N.Y. -- MLB’s All-Star festivities manage to leave a mark on the hard-to-impress N.Y. market, as the league gathers a who's who of HOFers for a fitting goodbye to Yankee Stadium and delivers a pregame ceremony that "won't be forgotten." Meanwhile, Home Run Derby ratings are through the roof, and a new star is born in JOSH HAMILTON. Off the field, MLB sets record All-Star merchandise sales, and FanFest draws a record 130,000 visitors.
LOSE: BRETT FAVRE -- Will he or won’t he? That seems to be the question on everyone’s mind, including No. 4 himself. Not only has Favre flip-flopped more than a politician, but he arranges, through the help of his wife, a bizarre softball interview on Fox News. And with tampering charges surrounding the Vikings' pursuit of the future HOFer, Favre continues taking to task the team and fan base which has worshiped him for the last decade.
DRAW: BILLY PACKER -- The longtime college basketball broadcaster parts ways with CBS after 27 years in an oddly-timed move that he claims was mutually decided a year ago, but nobody can seem to agree on his legacy. Frequently described as "stubborn" and "curmudgeonly," Packer's opinionated analysis has rubbed many the wrong way. But as much as he is criticized, Packer is remembered as one of the best at breaking down the action on the court and being a "very tough but ultimately fair grader."
