Chiefs Hope To Score New Sponsors After Arrowhead Renovation
Chiefs officials "hope to score 12 to 14 new big sponsors by the time renovations to Arrowhead Stadium are completed," including "stadium and practice facility naming rights, and sponsorships for each stadium quadrant," according to James Dornbrook of the K.C. BUSINESS JOURNAL. Chiefs VP/Sales & Marketing Tammy Fruits: "We absolutely need to create a spike in our revenue." Fruits said that new sponsorship opportunities "should help the Chiefs keep up with other NFL teams." Fruits added, "It is certainly our hope to incorporate the Arrowhead name and tradition into whatever we end up doing, not unlike Invesco Field at Mile High." An LED screen "ringing the inside of the stadium will provide ad sales opportunities, and new and renovated suites and club-level seating will provide new corporate partnership opportunities." The LED screen will replace the stadium's "ring of honor, which lists notable former Chiefs." Fruits said that "at a certain point in each game, the screen will post all the names previously on the ring of honor, along with a sponsor name." Meanwhile, Fruits said that she "understands that ticket sales are as important as marketing, especially with the team coming off a 4-12 season." She said that the Chiefs "don't share specific numbers but that season ticket renewal is about 3,000 to 4,000 tickets less than normal." Fruits added that the team is "attracting 'several thousand' new season ticket holders this year" (K.C. BUSINESS JOURNAL, 7/11 issue).
