Parking, Sight Lines At Nationals Park Earn High Marks

Nationals Park Garners Good Reviews
Half Way Through Inaugural Season
The reviews for the new Nationals Park at midseason are "generally good," according to Daniel LeDuc of the WASHINGTON POST.  Accessing the ballpark, which is located along the Anacostia River in Southeast DC, "is fairly easy most nights and weekends." Metro ridership at the Navy Yard stop, the closest Metro stop to the ballpark, "is up 130[%] over the past year." And, perhaps "because of all the people taking Metro or using shuttles, finding a parking space is fairly easy, although it carries a price." The ballpark also is "winning praise for its sightlines, scoreboard and atmosphere." Nearly all seats "have good views of the playing field." Also, the scoreboard's "clear picture and graphics have been hits, although the numbers don't often favor the Nationals." Meanwhile, the cherry trees located in a plaza behind the outfield "looked good for a few games early in the season but now are downright scrawny," and the ballpark's Kids Zone, which houses a batting cage, jungle gym and free PlayStation 3 games, "receives good reviews as a place to take a break from the game." Food prices, however, "are another matter," as "grumbling about prices persists, ... with a simple meal of burgers, fries and a drink costing $16." However, food lines do "seem to move a bit faster since the spring" (WASHINGTON POST, 7/15).
