Sunoco Official Reaffirms Company's
Commitment To NASCAR Through 2016
Sunoco Manager of Media & PR Thomas Golembeski said that despite the rising cost of gas, the company "plans to maintain its commitment to NASCAR" through 2016 as the league's official fuel. In Philadelphia, Bill Fleischman noted Sunoco supplies fuel "free of charge to teams in NASCAR's top three series," and about 6,000 gallons are used for Sprint Cup Series races. At $4 per gallon, the company supplies the equivalent of $24,000 each weekend. Meanwhile, while "many people would like to see the [U.S.] find ways to decrease its dependency on oil," Golembeski said "any potential change in the fuel that we supply to NASCAR would be handled in partnership with them" (PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS, 7/10).
