Fox Cable's Mike Hopkins Promoted To President Of Affiliate Sales

Fresh off his success at landing a Big Ten Network (BTN) deal with Comcast, MIKE HOPKINS landed another big deal. He was promoted. Fox Cable Networks bumped the 40-year old exec to President of Affiliate Sales & Marketing, after leading the group as Exec VP since last April. He will continue to report to the company's CEO TONY VINCIQUERRA. In addition to BTN, Hopkins also is trying to convince cable operators to take FSN, Speed, Fox Soccer Channel, Fox Sports en Espanol and Fox College Sports. As for his upcoming priorities, Hopkins says he still needs to close some BTN deals (including with Time Warner Cable) and push out more new media applications. "The key thing we have learned is really the value of all the advanced services," Hopkins said. "In cable operator negotiations, we're always going to arm wrestle over wholesale price. But what can really make these deals work is all these other advanced services that hit on cable operators' other priorities."
