Golisano Planning To Create
Two PACs With $5M Donation
Sabres Owner TOM GOLISANO yesterday said that he is "depositing $5[M] into a new political action committee designed to help elect candidates to the [New York] State Legislature this fall who pledge to bring a broad range of changes to state government." Election lawyers said that Golisano's expenditure to the committee, known as Responsible New York, "could be in violation of the state's $150,000 annual political donation limit." Golisano said that he is creating two committees, one "formed with his money and another to be funded from donations from New Yorkers not exceeding $100." Golisano said that the effort will "include endorsements of specific candidates." Golisano, a registered Republican, also "did not rule out another run for governor in 2010" (BUFFALONEWS.com, 7/8).

MR. POPULAR: NBC Universal President & CEO JEFF ZUCKER is "expected to be the popular guy" at the Allen & Co. media conference beginning today in Sun Valley, Idaho. Sources said that Zucker will be sought after "mainly because many of the entertainment and banking titans attending the confab plan on bending his ear about a merger or other combination with NBC or about off-loading some assets to the network" (N.Y. POST, 7/9).
