Goodell Becomes First U.S. Sports Commissioner
To Visit Troops As Part Of A USO Tour
NFL Commissioner ROGER GOODELL, Giants DE OSI UMENYIORA and Saints QB DREW BREES yesterday arrived in Iraq as part of a seven-day, three-country USO tour led by Joint Chiefs Chair Adm. MIKE MULLEN. Goodell is the first commissioner of a U.S. sports league to visit U.S. troops as part of a USO tour (N.Y. POST, 7/8).

HEALTHY EATING: Fenway Park Senior Exec Chef RON ABELL, when asked what Red Sox Owner JOHN HENRY likes to eat, said, "He's a real healthy eater. Oftentimes he's with a friend or two or [Red Sox Chair TOM WERNER] and they just order off the EMC menu. His favorite dish is a simple roast chicken with steamed asparagus or steamed broccoli. Rarely does he snack or eat fatty foods, but he does like almond M&Ms" (BOSTON BUSINESS JOURNAL, 7/4 issue).

MEDIA FIX: Cinema ad company Screenvision beginning July 31 will release the documentary "UltraMarathon Man: 50 Marathons, 50 States, 50 Days," which follows ultra-marathon runner DEAN KARNAZES, and The North Face Endurance 50, at roughly 170 theaters nationwide (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 7/8)....Suns F AMARE STOUDEMIRE recently taped a segment for Nickelodeon's "Yo Gabba Gabba," performing the "Amare Dribble Dancey Dance." Meanwhile, surfer TIMMY CURRAN currently is promoting his new CD, "Word of Mouth," with a summer tour (ESPN THE MAGAZINE, 7/14 issue)....Red Wings D BRIAN RAFALSKI and LW KIRK MALTBY last night were among a crowd of about 200 to attend a VIP screening of the "Stanley Cup 2007-2008 Champions" DVD at a theater in Birmingham, Michigan. The DVD goes on sale today with a suggested retail price of $24.98 (DETROIT FREE PRESS, 7/8).

NAMES: U.S. Olympic swimmers MICHAEL PHELPS and RYAN LOCHTE appear on the cover of the August issue of Men's Journal. Meanwhile, Glamour magazine's current issue, which hits newsstands today, features U.S. female Olympians including swimmer DARA TORRES and sprinter ALLYSON FELIX in a pictorial titled "The 11 Greatest Bodies on Earth" (USA TODAY, 7/8)....The Pro Football HOF has awarded this year's PETE ROZELL Radio-Television Award to CBS' DAN DIERDORF (Pro Football HOF)....Golfer PHIL MICKELSON has put his five-acre estate in Rancho Santa Fe, California, on the market for between $10.75-12.25M (SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE, 7/4).

IN MEMORY: Orlando-based attorney BILL MALONE, who helped found the city's Downtown Athletic Club, died yesterday from liver disease at the age of 62 (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 7/8).
