Hot Diggity Dog! Poll Reinforces That Sports Fans Love Hot Dogs

With July being National Hot Dog Month, the National Hot Dog & Sausage Council (NHDSC) released a new national poll conducted by Massachusetts-based Opinion Dynamics confirming the strong "link" between hot dogs and sports, most notably, baseball. According to the poll conducted from June 11-15, hot dogs once again dominated fan's favorite stadium fare. Approximately 63% of fans listed hot dogs as the one ballpark food they could not live without. Additionally, 88% of those polled said they have eaten or will eat a hot dog at a sporting event this year. Among MLB ballparks, Wrigley Field and Yankee Stadium tied as home of the best hot dog. The NHDSC estimates that Americans will eat seven billion hot dogs from Memorial Day to Labor Day; during the current MLB season, ballparks will sell 30 million hot dogs (NHDSC).
