RICK ELLINGTON has been promoted to Managing Editor of SportsBusiness Daily, effective immediately. Ellington has been with SBD since February ‘05, when he joined the company after serving as Youth Institute Manager of the Palm Beach County Sports Commission. He was named Assistant Managing Editor last August. “Rick is a smart, talented editor with a solid news sense,” said ABRAHAM MADKOUR, Executive Editor of SportsBusiness Daily/Journal. “He knows sports, sports business and the mission of our publications. LIVE NATION: The WALL STREET JOURNAL's Ethan Smith reported Live Nation Chair MICHAEL COHL is stepping down from the company, ending an "internal feud" between Cohl and Live Nation CEO MICHAEL RAPINO. An SEC Filing shows that Cohl will be paid a "lump sum of $4.5[M] and [will] serve out the four remaining years of his employment contract as a consultant to the company." Cohl is "then to be bound by a noncompete clause barring him from working in concert promotion for an additional four years" (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 6/21).
EXECS: The Mets have named former Reds GM WAYNE KRIVSKY as Special Assistant to GM OMAR MINAYA. Krivsky's "main responsibility" will be MLB scouting (MLB.com, 6/21)....BOA CEO SIMON CLEGG will assume an "as yet unspecified role overseeing the team's efforts to reach fourth place in the medal table" at the 2012 London Games, as part of a "major shake-up" in the association (BBC.co.uk, 6/19)....The Hornets have promoted Manager of Basketball Communications DENNIS ROGERS to Dir of Basketball Communications (Hornets)....CHL Ft.
