The Sandy (UT) Planning Commission Thursday "unanimously approved" the overall parking plan for MLS Real Salt Lake's (RSL) new soccer stadium. However, the parking requirements were "changed at the last minute" when the Utah Transit Authority changed its estimate of fans likely to use public transportation, "adding to more cars in the parking lot and the need for 300 additional stalls." Ryan Hales, who has advised RSL on parking, said that the team's "plan for more than 6,000 stalls will be sufficient" (DESERET NEWS, 6/20).

YARD WORK: The St. Petersburg City Council Thursday selected developers Archstone and Madison Marquette to "possibly purchase and redevelop Tropicana Field." Any redevelopment of the ballpark is "contingent on both the city and the developers reaching an agreement to develop the 86-acre property." It also "hinges on the outcome of the Rays' proposal for a waterfront stadium." The city said that the Rays ballpark proposal will "not be allowed to move forward unless developers break ground at Tropicana Field" (ST. PETERSBURG TIMES, 6/20).

NOTES: The first row of seats behind home plate in the Twins' new ballpark, set to open in 2010, will be priced at $275 a game. The next several rows will cost $225 a game and the next set will be $175 a game. Included with the seats will be complimentary food, drink and valet parking (ST. PAUL PIONEER PRESS, 6/20)....A report shows the city of Arlington, Texas, has $40.1M left on its tab for the construction of the Cowboys stadium. Arlington has spent $284.9M of the $325M it promised to provide for the team's new stadium (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 6/20)....Global Spectrum Facility Management has assumed the operations and management contract for the General Motors Centre in Oshawa, Ontario, effective June 30 (Global Spectrum).
