OSHA Investigating Recent Accidents During
Construction Of New Cowboys Stadium
Occupational Safety and Health Administration(OSHA) officials have "opened investigations into the two accidents that occurred" last week at the Cowboys' new stadium in Arlington, including one in which a worker died, according to Andrea Ahles of the FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM. OSHA spokesperson Diana Petterson said that investigators were "already on site Saturday examining the crane from Thursday's accident when a worker was electrocuted." Manhattan Construction Construction Manager Keith Cooper said that "since work began on the $1.1[B] stadium project in April 2006, 175 incidents have been reported through May 2008." However, Cooper said, "The incidents have had little or no impact on the schedule" (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 6/17).

COWBOYS NOTES: In Dallas, Brian Davis writes tomorrow is the deadline for all bid submissions from cities wanting to host a men's college basketball Final Four from 2012-2016, and Cowboys Exec VP & COO Stephen Jones is "confident the Cowboys will have everything in order to make a good impression on NCAA officials." Jones said that team officials "have been working with the Big 12 office" and Cotton Bowl Athletic Association President Rick Baker to "assemble their bid." Arlington could be among nine cities to submit Final Four bids (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 6/17)....A 40-year-old Boys & Girls Club gym has received new paint and carpeting, lights and bleachers as well as sports and fitness equipment thanks to a $30,000 grant from the Gene and Jerry Jones Family Charities and the Gene and Jerry Jones Family Arlington Youth Foundation. The gym has been renamed the Dallas Cowboys Fitness Zone (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 6/17)....The Cowboys and the city of Irving are "working out the details of how mementos of Texas Stadium can be packaged for sale" to fans during the team's final season at Texas Stadium (DALLAS BUSINESS JOURNAL, 6/13 issue).
