Gator Tracks: IndyCar Signs Deal With Izod To Be Official Clothier
By Michael Smith, Staff Writer, SportsBusiness Journal
The IndyCar Series has finalized a deal that will make Izod the circuit's official clothier. The multi-year deal is believed to be worth about $1M annually and includes cash and clothing components, according to industry insiders. Izod's advertising plans have not been determined yet, but at-track hospitality is expected to be central to its sponsorship. Sources said that the brand also has plans to seek wardrobe deals with teams and drivers in the series. Also, an IndyCar line of clothes, which would be available through mass retailers, could be in the works. One team that presumably would not be available would be Penske Racing, which has a 20-plus year association with Hugo Boss.
