ASHANTI is scheduled to sing the national anthem for Sunday's Game Five (BOSTON HERALD, 6/13).
BUILDING BLOCKS: In California, Elizabeth Marcellino profiled Meis Architects Founder DAN MEIS, who has designed Staples Center, Safeco Field and Paul Brown Stadium, among others. Meis recently partnered with architectural firm Aedas, and his "latest effort is the design of the proposed [L.A.] NFL Stadium." Meis: "I wasn't a huge sports freak, but I was intrigued by the fact that these buildings have a big impact on the cities that they're in because people are very passionate about them" (PACIFIC PALISADIAN-POST, 6/11).

IT'S IN N.Y.: Gatorade Wednesday inflated a golf simulator in Times Square to look like a moon as part of a promotion for its new sports drink, Gatorade Tiger. ESPN's TREY WINGO and NASCAR driver and Gatorade endorser JIMMIE JOHNSON were on hand (Tripp Mickle, SportsBusiness Journal).
