Bills Execs May Be Required To
Testify In Lynch's Hit-And-Run Trial |
Bills Owner Ralph Wilson, COO Russ Brandon, Security Dir Chris Clark, Dir of Player Programs Paul Lancaster and security force member Bob Schultz may be "required to tell an Erie County [NY] grand jury what they know about the hit-and-run accident" involving a vehicle owned by Bills RB Marshawn Lynch, according to Warner & Herbeck of the BUFFALO NEWS. Law enforcement sources said that three players, Bills WRs James Hardy and Steve Johnson and OL Christian Gaddis, have "already been issued subpoenas to appear before the grand jury next Friday." Other sources said that investigators may be "casting as wide a net as possible to pressure the Bills' organization to reveal as much information as possible about the hit-and-run accident." Lipsitz Green Scime Cambria LLP Senior Partner Michael Schiavone, who serves as the Bills' counsel, "expressed his surprise at the subpoenas, especially for team management." Warner & Herbeck note "forcing players and team officials before a grand jury seems to be a serious matter for a case involving only a possible misdemeanor charge." Schiavone: "It's highly unusual for an investigation of this type of incident to rise to this level. I'm somewhat perplexed by the inclusion of management personnel into the investigation, but that's obviously within the district attorney's prerogative." Bills management declined to comment on the proceedings (BUFFALO NEWS, 6/13).
