Bradley Upset by TV Comments Made During Rangers-Royals Game

Bradley Upset With Comments
Made By Royals' Announcers
MLB Rangers DH Milton Bradley "rushed from the dugout to just outside the Royals’ TV booth" shortly after last night's Rangers-Royals game to confront Royals announcer Ryan Lefebvre for comments he made about Bradley during the FSN K.C. broadcast, according to Mark Dent of MLB.com. A security guard kept Bradley from entering the room, where Lefebvre was doing postgame coverage. Lefebvre: “From what I remember, we were complimenting [Rangers CF] Josh Hamilton and how he’s turned his life around and been accountable for his mistakes. [Royals analyst Frank White] and I were just having a conversation that it’s a shame it doesn’t appear Milton Bradley is doing the same in his life.” Dent notes Rangers manager Ron Washington and GM Jon Daniels requested to meet with Lefebvre, who maintains that he and White “weren’t intentionally trying to insult Bradley.” Lefebvre: “This wasn’t a Milton Bradley rip session" (MLB.com, 6/12). More Lefebvre: “We were complimenting Josh Hamilton. We weren’t tearing up Milton Bradley, but I guess it came across that way” (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 6/12). Bradley said, “I wouldn’t hurt anybody. I just wanted to introduce myself. Maybe he doesn’t know who I am” (K.C. STAR, 6/12).

EMOTIONAL REACTION: In Dallas, Richard Durrett reports Bradley after returning to the clubhouse "walked around with tears welling up and his voice breaking as he spoke." Daniels said, "He was upset that somebody that doesn’t know him was passing judgment on TV. ... It's obvious he was hurt by those comments.” Lefebvre: "We also spent a lot of time complimenting Milton Bradley, but that’s not what he heard when he was in the clubhouse" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 6/12). On his blog, Durrett wrote of Bradley, “It did seem like a guy that’s tired of having to defend himself. It was clearly more hurt than any kind of anger” (DALLASNEWS.com, 6/12).
