Holt Looks To Reorganize SS&E After Bookbinder's Resignation

Holt May Reorganize Spurs Leadership
After Bookbinder's Departure |
The Spurs will look at "reorganization possibilities under the leadership of its principal owner and two other top executives" after the resignation of Spurs Sports & Entertainment (SS&E) Exec VP/Business Operations Russ Bookbinder earlier this week, according to William Pack of the SAN ANTONIO EXPRESS-NEWS. Spurs Owner Peter Holt said that "nothing was certain about any changes in the wake of" Bookbinder's resignation. However, Holt added that he "wanted to take the opportunity to examine the entire structure of the [SS&E] operation to see if improvements are possible." The process is designed to take about 30 days. Holt said that he plans to "be more active in the day-to-day operations" of the company, along with Spurs Senior VP & GM R.C. Buford and SS&E Exec VP/Finance & Corporate Development Rick Pych. Holt did not say that organizational changes were likely as the "existing organization has been successful." However, he added that the "timing is right to see if the entertainment company can benefit from the experiences of other successful franchises." Bookbinder yesterday said that he made the decision to leave the Spurs so he could have "more time with his family, recharge and see what opportunities arise" (SAN ANTONIO EXPRESS-NEWS, 6/12).
