TD Ameritrade Looks To Acquire Naming Rights To Omaha Ballpark

TD Ameritrade Wants Naming Rights
To New Omaha, CWS Ballpark
TD Ameritrade CEO Joe Moglia confirmed that he "hopes to gain the naming rights" to Omaha's proposed downtown ballpark, which would host the College World Series, according to C. David Kotok of the Omaha WORLD-HERALD. TD Ameritrade has "made its interest known in a conversation and follow-up letter" to Metropolitan Entertainment and Convention Authority (MECA) Chair David Sokol, whose company  is "taking a lead role in negotiating stadium naming rights under its management agreement with the city." Local and national companies are "eligible for the naming rights as long as their image is consistent" with the College World Series. NCAA corporate sponsors State Farm, Lowe's, Pontiac and Coca-Cola also are "likely to be approached to see if they are interested in buying the stadium naming rights." Moglia, in the letter to Sokol, said that if TD Ameritrade gains the naming rights, the company also would be "willing to make a sizable contribution to the $43[M] in private fundraising that will help pay for the stadium construction." No dollar amount for the naming rights was mentioned in the letter. MECA and Qwest Center Omaha President Roger Dixon indicated that "at least one other company has made an inquiry." Moglia said that TD Ameritrade "wants the naming rights to demonstrate its commitment to Omaha and as a boost to its Omaha workforce" (Omaha WORLD-HERALD, 6/10).
