Tap The Rockies: Joint MillerCoors Venture Appoints Top Execs

Joint MillerCoors Venture
Unveils Top Management Team
MillerCoors, the new joint venture of SABMiller and Coors, yesterday named Molson Coors President & CEO LEO KIELY CEO, and Miller President & CEO TOM LONG President & Chief Commercial Officer, according to Eric Newman of BRANDWEEK. Meanwhile, Molson Coors CMO ANDY ENGLAND will assume the same role with MillerCoors, reporting to Long. Kiely said that plans are "underway for integration between the two brewers, including streamlining corporate, sales and marketing divisions so that 'we will be able to hit the ground running on July 1,' when the merger is expected to close" (BRANDWEEK.com, 6/9).  The 14-member MillerCoors leadership team will be comprised of seven execs each from Miller and Coors (BIZJOURNALS.com, 6/9).

MOLSON MOVES: Molson Coors named Coors Brewing CEO PETER SWINBURN President & CEO and Coors Brewers, Ltd CFO STEWART GLENDINNING Global CFO (Molson Coors).

WHERE TO? Kiely yesterday in a conference call to announce the changes did not indicate where MillerCoors will locate its HQs. MillerCoors only said it will maintain a "significant presence" in Coors' hometown of Golden, Colorado, and Miller's base in  Milwaukee (DENVER POST, 6/10). Miller Corporate Media Relations Dir PETE MARINO said that the location of the MillerCoors HQs "could be announced within weeks after the joint venture becomes official" on June 30. In Milwaukee, Tom Daykin writes the location of the HQs, as well as "other administrative and office functions, are among the biggest issues" facing the company (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 6/10).
