| Chelsea Inks Representation Deal With CAA Sports |
English Premier League club Chelsea has signed CAA Sports to represent it in "several areas, including securing corporate partnerships for the club and endorsements for its talent, expanding its brand into North America and advising it on stadium opportunities," according to Liz Mullen of SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL. CAA also will advise Chelsea on "tours and corporate social responsibility initiatives." A team of CAA Sports execs, led by co-Heads Michael Levine and Howard Nuchow and marketing exec Paul Danforth, is "expected to work with Chelsea officials." Neither party would reveal the financial terms of the deal. Mullen notes CAA Sports began talking with Chelsea after an introduction by CAA's Charlie Stillitano and Jon Sheiman, who both have joined the agency in the last year (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 6/9 issue). The FINANCIAL TIMES' Matthew Garrahan noted CAA last year made its first foray into soccer when it "helped orchestrate" David Beckham's transfer to the MLS Galaxy from La Liga club Real Madrid. Beckham's manager, Simon Fuller, is repped by CAA (FINANCIAL TIMES, 6/9).
