Media Notes

In N.Y., Bob Raissman wrote NBC's Cris Collinsworth and CBS' Greg Gumbel and Phil Simms "should be the core of the cast" for Showtime's "Inside the NFL." The show will likely have "more than a three-man operation," but Collinsworth, Gumbel and Simms will "provide the ultimate foundation for the program." It also would "provide evidence Showtime suits are serious about presenting a quality production" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 6/8).

HEIDI SAYS HELLO: KCOP-MYT yesterday cut away from the Angels-A's game "right before [A's 2B] Mark Ellis hit a walk-off grand slam in the 12th inning" due to a "communication error with the feed between Vyvx, the satellite carrier of the telecast, and AT&T, which distributes the telecast." At 5:00pm PT, right before Ellis' home run, KCOP "went to a color bar, a black screen with a KCOP logo, a commercial and then to [a] movie" (L.A. TIMES, 6/9).

NHL MEDIA NOTES: Predators President of Business Operations Ed Lang said that the club is negotiating with WGFX-FM "about renewing its contract for next season" (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 6/9)....In Toronto, Steve Simmons wrote the feud between the CBC's Don Cherry and Penguins C Sidney Crosby "is not about to go away." Crosby's advisors are "furious" about the treatment he received on "HNIC" during the Stanley Cup Finals, and the "little war may get worse before it gets better" (TORONTO SUN, 6/8)....SI.com's John Rolfe wrote NHL analyst Mike Milbury is "trainwreck-fascinating," and his presence as an on-air personality "reinforces the notion that the NHL is shucking its best courting duds and getting down to the business of serving and satisfying its core audience" (SI.com, 6/6).
