Media Notes
CABLEFAX DAILY reports Comcast SportsNet President Jon Litner in the past year has hired two execs to focus on the digital space and developed a post "charged strictly with expanding CSN's digital presence." Litner said that the "overarching goal is to transfer the company's focus on localism to the Web ... and to be 'the go-to site' in coverage markets." Litner: "We need to give our consumers who are watching our networks the opportunity to access in the information 24 hours/day." CABLEFAX DAILY notes offline expansion "remains a priority as well, in areas including interactive TV, VOD, HD, mobile and additional sports conference-specific content" (CABLEFAX DAILY, 6/6).
APPEARANCE-FREE: In DC, Dan Steinberg wrote with Redskins Owner Daniel Snyder acquiring sports-talk station WTEM-AM through his Red Zebra Broadcasting company, "Don't expect any more (paid) appearances by Washington Post personalities like Mike Wise, Michael Wilbon and possibly John Feinstein. YES Network Reiterates Damon
Did Not Utter Daily News Headline |
IT'S BULL? Yankees CF Johnny Damon appeared on the back cover of Thursday's edition of the N.Y. Daily News under the header, "It's Bull! Damon questions Joba's move out of pen." YES Network's Bob Lorenz Thursday on the Yankees pregame show said, "I guess what stands out is on that back page the headline read, 'It's Bull.' Some people might think Johnny said that so let's clarify this." YES Network's Kim Jones: "He definitely didn't say it's bull. That's not in quotes on the back page. So leave it to a headline writer to cause a stir in New York, right?" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 6/6).
