Reebok To Give Out "You Got Rondo'd"
Posters In Boston During NBA Finals |
Reebok is hoping the catchphrase "You got Rondo'd!," in reference to Celtics G and Reebok endorser Rajon Rondo, “will become a familiar one in New England during the NBA Finals," according to Marc Spears of the BOSTON GLOBE. Reebok over the weekend filmed three commercials featuring the catchphrase in Massachusetts with former Celtics Jo Jo White and Dee Brown and Patriots DT Vince Wilfork. Reebok attempted to get Basketball HOFer Bill Russell in one of the ads, but “couldn't get it worked out.” The spots will be shown online and in TD Banknorth Garden during the Finals. Before each commercial, "Rondo" will be defined as "moving smoothly between larger objects, being able to remove an object quickly and efficiently, or creating a direction with a swift change of direction." Rondo said of the ad campaign, "I didn't know they were going to do all that." Rondo’s contract with Reebok ends after this season, and Reebok “has been in negotiations with Rondo's representation agency, BDA Sports Management” (BOSTON GLOBE, 6/1). Reebok is planning a viral push for the campaign before Game One of the NBA Finals on Thursday, and a ringtone with the phrase “You Got Rondo’d” will be available for download at Reebok.com (Drew Shull, THE DAILY).
