Frank Hawkins Leaving NFL To Form Scalar Media Partners

NFL Senior VP/Business Affairs FRANK HAWKINS in June will leave the league after almost 15 years to form N.Y.-based media consultancy Scalar Media Partners (SMP), according to Lefton & Kaplan of SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL. Hawkins is opening SMP along with former NFL Exec VP/New Media, Internet & Enterprises TOM SPOCK and former Court TV President ART BELL. Hawkins said that the group will offer a "range of financial, legal, programming distribution and management consulting services to media, entertainment and sports companies." He added that SMP will "open with three clients," but that the NFL is not one of them. Lefton & Kaplan note Hawkins has been the "point man in the [NFL's] legislative efforts and its work with the [FCC] to gain more distribution" for NFL Network. Hawkins said that he would "see the FCC process through to completion beyond his departure from the league." Hawkins noted that NFL Senior VP/Digital Media BRIAN ROLAPP will "assume many of Hawkins' current responsibilities" (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 5/26 issue).
