Wheels & Deals: Danica Patrick Re-Ups With Tissot For Two Years

IRL driver Danica Patrick has signed a two-year sponsorship renewal with Swiss watch maker Tissot, and her image will continue to appear on Tissot print ads, billboards and all in-store signage. Patrick in '05 became Tissot's first U.S. female endorser (Tissot). Patrick appeared on CNBC this morning and said since winning the Indy Japan 300 last month, becoming the first female driver to win an open-wheel race, there has been "more interest and interest in different areas" from a business angle (CNBC, 5/22). Meanwhile, in Chicago, Lewis Lazare reports Patrick has a new Web site, www.danicaracing.com, developed by Chicago-based UncommonThinking.com. Patrick's site currently is "previewing three Alanis Morissette songs" from her upcoming album, "Flavors of Entanglement" (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 5/22).

Busch Moves Into Top Ten
In Trackside Sales This Season
REBEL YELL: USA TODAY's Seth Livingstone reports NASCAR driver Kyle Busch's "bad-boy image ... hasn't hurt merchandise sales." Turner Sports, which manages the NASCAR.com SuperStore, said that Busch has "improved from 26th last year to seventh among drivers in merchandise sold this season -- an 85% increase in sales." Motorsports Authentics Dir of Media & PR Scott Warfield said that Busch has "moved into the top 10 among active drivers, with his trackside sales increasing 40%" (USA TODAY, 5/22).

COCA-COLA 600 PAINT SCHEMES: NASCAR driver Kyle Petty said his No. 45 Dodge for this weekend's Sprint Cup Coca-Cola 600 will feature a Coca-Cola paint scheme "to honor the Olympics in Beijing and all the Olympic athletes" (Fox Business, 5/20)....Lumber Liquidators will sponsor Yates Racing's No. 28 Ford driven by Travis Kvapil. The race marks the company's first primary sponsorship in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series this season (Lumber Liquidators)....Aaron's Sales & Lease Ownership will be the primary sponsor for Michael Waltrip Racing's (MWR) No. 00 Toyota driven by Michael McDowell (MWR).

ARCHES OVER THE BRICKYARD: McDonald's has become the official QSR of Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS), the Indianapolis 500 and the Sprint Cup Series Allstate 400 at the Brickyard. As part of the deal, McDonald's will sponsor tomorrow's Pit Stop Challenge at IMS in advance of Sunday's Indy 500 (IMS).
