The Nets have promoted KIKI VANDEWEGHE to GM. A team source said that Vandeweghe, who had been serving as Special Assistant to team President ROD THORN, received a four-year contract through the 2011-2012 season (Newark STAR-LEDGER, 5/9). In N.Y., Julian Garcia reports the deal is "likely similar" to the four-year, $6.6M deal held by former GM ED STEFANSKI (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 5/9)....A source said that Bobcats Exec VP/Basketball Operations BERNIE BICKERSTAFF is leaving the franchise. Bickerstaff from '04-07 served as the team's President of Basketball Operations, GM & coach (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 5/9)....The Sonics named Jazz Dir of Player Personnel TROY WEAVER Assistant GM (Sonics).
EXECS: The Charlotte Regional Sports Commission has hired former Bobcats Senior VP/Ticket Sales & Service STEVE SWETOHA as Exec Dir for the 2010 & 2011 ACC Football Championship games (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 5/9)....HOF Racing Dir of Competition PHILIPPE LOPEZ has left the organization.
