Carmelo Taps Maroon PR To Oversee Growth, PR Of His Foundation

Anthony Signs Maroon PR For
Oversight Of Foundation
Nuggets F Carmelo Anthony has selected Baltimore-based Maroon PR to oversee the growth and outreach surrounding the Carmelo Anthony Foundation (CAF) and Anthony's related philanthropic efforts (CAF). In Denver, James Paton writes the hiring is the "latest indication that Anthony ... wants to shake up his business and branding endeavors." Maroon, which also reps the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation, said that a "top priority is finding corporate supporters," as Anthony to date has "largely made all the financial contributions." Public filings indicate that Anthony in '06 gave "about $1[M] to the foundation," and Melo Enterprises Inc. was "listed as the contributor of half of that sum." Documents show that Baltimore-based groups have "received the lion's share of his money," as the CAF donated $175,000 to the Living Classrooms Foundation, $100,000 to basketball program Charm City Choice and $2,400 to the Kurk Lee Foundation. Denver-based Team Up For Kids received $30,000 from the CAF. The CAF "aims to help children" in Denver, Baltimore and Syracuse (ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS, 5/8).
