Hawks GM Billy Knight Resigns After Six Seasons With Club

| Knight Resigns As Hawks GM |
Hawks GM Billy Knight this morning resigned effective July 1 after six years with the organization, according to Sekou Smith of the ATLANTA CONSTITUTION. Knight informed Atlanta Spirit co-Owner and NBA Governor Michael Gearon Jr. last night of his decision. Knight said in a statement, "My passion for the franchise has never wavered, but I feel I'm leaving the organization in much better shape than it was in when I took over." Gearon said in a statement, "We are grateful and appreciative of the job he has done. ... Billy has built a team of athletic, high character players who have enormous potential." Smith writes Knight "built the Hawks from the ground up, having spent his first season with the organization as the director of basketball operations before taking over as [GM]" (AJC.com, 5/7).
