Sources familiar with the investigation said that the Justice Department's office of the inspector general in Boston is looking into whether Bonner "overstepped her authority ... or violated any ethics rules by allegedly ordering her deputies to essentially serve as private taxi drivers" (BOSTON GLOBE, 5/2).

WHO'S NEXT? In N.Y., Phil Mushnick reports potential candidates to replace Bryant Gumbel as the NFL Network's play-by-play announcer include NBC's Al Michaels and Tom Hammond, CBS' Dick Enberg and WFAN-AM's Bob Papa, who calls Giants games for the station (N.Y. POST, 5/2).

DOUBLE DISPUTE: In N.Y., Keith Kelly reports former MLBer and Players Club magazine Founder Lenny Dykstra is "embroiled in a bitter legal brawl" with the magazine's publisher, Doubledown Media. The dispute centers on "cost overruns at the magazine, as well as charges by Dykstra that Doubledown used his name without permission to launch a newsletter and Web site called The Dykstra Report," which is not connected to the magazine (N.Y. POST, 5/2).
