The MLB Rangers named DALE PETROSKEY Exec VP/Marketing & Community Development, effective today. Petroskey will oversee marketing, community development and government relations, and the Texas Rangers Foundation. From July '99 to March '08, Petroskey was President of the National Baseball HOF & Museum (Rangers).
NCAA: The NCAA has promoted Senior VP/Governance & Membership BERNARD FRANKLIN to Exec VP/Governance & Membership, Managing Dir of Football & Baseball DENNIE POPPE to VP/Baseball & Football and Senior Advisor to the President WALLY RENFRO to VP/Senior Advisor to the President (NCAA).
CHARGERS: Chargers Assistant GM & Dir of Player Personnel BUDDY NIX has announced his retirement after 15 seasons in the NFL, the last seven in San Diego. Chargers Exec VP ED MCGUIRE has added the title of Assistant GM to his responsibilities. McGuire “long has been the Chargers’ chief contract negotiator and salary cap guru.” In addition, Dir of College Scouting JIMMY RAYE was promoted to Dir of Player Personnel, Assistant Dir of College Scouting JOHN SPANOS to Dir of College Scouting, and MIKE BIEHL to Assistant Dir of College Scouting. The team also named TOM MCCONNAUGHEY National Scout and CHRIS HOBBS Exec Assistant for Player Personnel. RANDY MUELLER joins the team as a senior exec (SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE, 4/30).
