Names & Faces: Manny Ramirez To Star In Two New ESPN Spots

Owen Signs Endorsement Deal
With Stanford Financial Group
Red Sox LF Manny Ramirez yesterday shot two ads for ESPN's "This is SportsCenter” campaign. The ads feature ESPN’s Jay Harris, Karl Ravech and Steve Levy “waiting for Manny to do something Mannyesque. But he doesn’t” (BOSTON HERALD, 4/29).

STRIKING A DEAL: English Premier League club Newcastle United F Michael Owen has signed an endorsement deal with Stanford Financial Group to serve as a global ambassador for the company. The deal includes personal appearances, philanthropic initiatives and inclusion in Stanford’s internal and external branding. Financial terms were not disclosed. Owen is repped by Wasserman Media Group (Stanford Financial).

SNAP DECISION: In Minneapolis, Judd Zulgad reported the Vikings, who last week acquired DE Jared Allen from the Chiefs, received a "shipment of No. 69 jerseys with Allen's name on the back ... in time for Saturday's draft party." Vikings VP/Sales & Marketing Steve LaCroix: “It was a scramble with Reebok to get them made up and produced, but we do have them available. They are the replica authentics as well as additional replicas. Sales are being pre-ordered via our website and team stores” (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 4/27). The last of the 96 available jerseys were sold Saturday by 4:30pm CT (ST. PAUL PIONEER PRESS, 4/27).
