IMG To Handle All Of Timberlake's
Global Endorsement Opportunities
BRANDWEEK's Eric Newman reported singer/actor Justin Timberlake signed a deal with IMG for worldwide endorsement representation. While no new deals have been announced, IMG, N.Y., said that it would "continue to serve as a representative for Timberlake's endeavors" in the PGA Tour Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open (BRANDWEEK.com, 4/18).

POUNDING THE PAVEMENT: CNBC's Angela Salvucci ran her fifth Boston Marathon yesterday, and after the race discussed the ads at the start and finish lines. Salvucci: “It was probably the least commercial sporting event still that I’ve ever seen. I didn’t notice too many ads. ... The ads were not overwhelming at all, and they should be able to advertise.” Salvucci added: “I don’t think the Boston Marathon is going to become NASCAR” (“Street Signs,” CNBC, 4/21).

FANCY CAT: Puma next month will open a new office in L.A. "dedicated to entertainment marketing." The office will be "geared to increasing [corporate] partnerships and product interaction with music and film celebrities." Puma will begin promotional tie-ins with Warner Bros.' theatrical release of "Speed Racer" next month, which will include a "signature shoe, product placement in the movie and worldwide in-store promotional campaigns" (BRANDWEEK.com, 4/21).

NOTES: Papa John's Pizza confirmed that it will remain the title sponsor for the Papajohns.com Bowl in Birmingham through '09 and has a "renewal option to extend the sponsorship through 2011" (BIRMINGHAM NEWS, 4/22)....Louisville Slugger has signed 10 players to bat contracts, including Royals 3B Alex Gordon, Rays 3B Evan Longoria, Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia and Rockies SS Troy Tulowitzki (STLTODAY.com, 4/21)....The Celtics and GlobalWide Merchandising & Marketing announced a multi-year partnership to become a team supplier of premium and promotional products (Celtics).
