The HOUSTON BUSINESS JOURNAL's Allison Wollam reports "all traces" of free agent P ROGER CLEMENS have been removed from the Roger Clemens Rocket Sports Grill at Memorial City Mall in Houston. Construction workers last month were constructing a large "Rocket" sign at the entrance of the restaurant, while Clemens' jerseys from the Red Sox, Yankees, Astros and the Univ. of Texas "hung in the entry." But as of this week, Clemens' memorabilia had been removed, and the restaurant, still under construction, "now houses wide-screen televisions, NASCAR video games and a variety of non-Clemens' related baseball memorabilia" (HOUSTON BUSINESS JOURNAL, 4/18 issue).

Armstrong Finishes Boston
Marathon In Under Three Hours
RUN AROUND: In Boston, gossip columnists Beggy & Shanahan report cyclist LANCE ARMSTRONG finished yesterday's Boston Marathon with a time of 2:50:58 and "drew some of the loudest cheers" during the race. Meanwhile, Patriots LB Tedy Bruschi, who sponsored a group of runners who raised money for the American Stroke Association, was "followed by an NFL film crew as he kept a watchful eye over the finish line" (BOSTON GLOBE, 4/22).

NIGHT COURT: WTAer Maria Sharapova appeared on CBS’ “Late Show” last night, where David Letterman presented her with a can of tennis balls with a bow on it for her birthday, saying, “We chipped in and got you that. Happy birthday.” Sharapova said Tag Heuer was throwing her a birthday party and the company gave her a watch “that I’m showing off to everybody." Following the interview, Sharapova and Letterman, along with guest Billy Crystal, went outside of the studio, where they played tennis on a court in the street (“Late Show,” CBS, 4/21).

TRIALS & TRIBULATIONS: In Ft. Lauderdale, Sarah Talalay reports the legal battle between Dolphins Owner WAYNE HUIZENGA and former Huizenga Holdings President RICHARD ROCHON has become "increasingly nasty." Huizenga in '06 filed a suit against Rochon alleging that Rochon owed him more than $10M in unpaid loans. Rochon has accused Huizenga and his son, WAYNE JR., of "insider trading" (South Florida SUN SENTINEL, 4/22)....In Phoenix, Craig Harris reports allegations that Univ. of Arizona men's basketball coach LUTE OLSON "improperly transferred all the money from a financial account he shared with his estranged wife, combined with a dispute over a prenuptial agreement, potentially could turn [Olson's] divorce into a nasty battle" (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 4/22).

NAMES: The D'Backs and P DOUG DAVIS have teamed to create the 49 Fund to benefit families of children with cancer at St. Joseph's Hospital & Medical Center in Phoenix. The fund, named after Davis' No. 49 jersey, is aiming to raise $49,000 this season (D'Backs)....LPGA HOFer AMY ALCOTT, who plays on the Legends Tour, has signed a marketing deal with Gaylord Sports. Alcott currently is working on her second book, "SPIKED SHOES" (L.A. TIMES, 4/22)....In N.Y., Mike Vaccaro reported Newsday's JOE GERGEN two weeks ago wrote his last column for the newspaper. Vaccaro: "His newspaper wouldn't let him write a farewell to his longtime readers, which is criminal, so here is one longtime reader who will bid him farewell, instead, and offer thanks" (N.Y. POST, 4/20).
