Changing Leagues: NBA VP Matt Bourne Leaving To Join MLB
By Eric Fisher, Staff Writer, SportsBusiness Journal
MLB has hired NBA VP/Marketing Communications MATT BOURNE as VP/Business PR, replacing SUSAN GOODENOW, who left early this year to become Red Sox VP/Public Affairs. Prior to joining the NBA, Bourne spent four years at National Media Group. MLB is still seeking to replace Business PR Manager KERRY KIELAR, who left recently for Tiffany & Co., and also will increase its business public relations staff by at least two additional people. MLB Senior VP/PR RICH LEVIN: “We’re still rather understaffed compared to other leagues, and our needs in this area continue to expand. We’re looking to do a lot more.” Bourne will start May 5, and play a key role in shaping that expanded staff.
