It's a logistical migraine and no team makes any money on the trip. But you can bet your bottom NASCAR gets a nice check out of the deal." Poole adds of NASCAR's drug testing policy, "It's clear NASCAR doesn't want the responsibility for establishing and enforcing a fair testing policy. It also is clear NASCAR really doesn't want to know some of the answers a real drug-testing policy might provide" (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 4/17).

TAMED BY TIGER: USA TODAY's Christine Brennan writes of golfer Tiger Woods undergoing knee surgery and likely missing scheduled appearances at the Wachovia Championship and The Players, Woods "did the right thing by not making a big deal about his knee until after he had the surgery." For the PGA Tour, it's the best worst-case scenario possible" (USA TODAY, 4/17). CNBC's Darren Rovell, on Woods missing the Wachovia Championship: "The company, which announced a $393[M] loss on Monday and has its annual meeting next week, won't get the same amount of attention with Woods not playing" ("Closing Bell,'' CNBC, 4/16).

The fans don't really care. Now, they can't hide this." ESPN's Kevin Blackistone said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell "needs to look into the penalties that are being imposed right now for steroid abusers around the league. ... It is time to stiffen those penalties" ("Around The Horn,'' ESPN, 4/16).
