In N.Y., gossip columnists Rush & Molloy report ESPN execs "at the last minute ... killed a podcast" scheduled for last Friday with U.S. Sen. and presidential candidate Barack Obama (D-IL) and ESPN's Bill Simmons. ESPN VP/PR Josh Krulewitz: "It's absolutely not an issue about any one candidate. Our position is that when they're down to the final two candidates, we'll look for options to interview each accordingly. Fans don't expect political coverage on our air" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 4/16).

The Masters Web Site Sees 16% Increase
In Unique Visitors During Tournament
GREEN GIANT: For the one-week period during The Masters, the tournament’s official Web site masters.org had 5.4 million unique visitors, up 16% from last year’s figure of 4.7 million. There were 2.2 million unique visitors on Friday. The total number of video streams requested was 6.7 million, a 59% increase from last year’s 4 million total. The average time spent on the site was over 90 minutes (THE DAILY).

PREMIER PROTEST: In London, Henry Winter reports English Premier League (EPL) club Chelsea has told Sky TV that "no pre-match or post-match interviews will be given to them," even though all clubs are "required to give access as part" of Sky's US$1.78B annual deal with the EPL. The club is "angry that they have been forced to play two games in three days," claiming that they have "been given insufficient time to recover ... and the scheduling gives [EPL] leaders Manchester United an unfair advantage" (London TELEGRAPH, 4/16).

NOTES: IMG has formed a multi-year partnership to develop, produce and distribute original unscripted TV series and formats. Under the agreement, Glassman Media exclusively will develop and produce original formats for IMG Global Media (IMG)....NFL Cardinals C Al Johnson said that he is close to buying a radio station near his hometown of Brussels, Wisconsin. Johnson: "I've been interested in buying a radio station for a while. ... In December we started talks and we came to an agreement. Now, we're waiting for the FCC approval" (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 4/15).
