Parker's Agent In Talks With Major
Sponsors Ahead Of Rookie WNBA Season |
WNBA Sparks No. 1 draft pick Candace Parker’s agent Aaron Goodwin "looks as if he’ll skip the NBA draft this year and focus on Parker," as negotiations are expected to begin with Gatorade, Nike and adidas, according to Percy Allen of the SEATTLE TIMES. Allen writes if Parker “were a man, she’d be the most hyped professional basketball player ever,” bigger than anyone in this summer's "star-deficient NBA draft class." Off the court, Parker has a “Madison Avenue smile. Charisma and street cred.” She also has a slam-dunk title, a spot in People magazine’s 100 Most Beautiful People and in May will receive a sports marketing degree from the Univ. of Tennessee. Univ. of Oregon Warsaw Sports Marketing Center Managing Dir Paul Swangard: "She'll add value to the endemic sponsors who want to leverage her professional career for the sale of sport-inspired shoes and apparel. She's a potential once-in-a-generation type of player." Swangard added, "She may have the ability to transcend her sport. She has the opportunity to be relevant to people whether they are WNBA fans or not" (SEATTLE TIMES, 4/10).
