Anthony Ends Marketing Relationship
With BDA Sports, Remains For Contracts |
Nuggets F Carmelo Anthony yesterday released a statement indicating he has terminated BDA Sports and its marketing group from all future marketing and PR efforts. But Anthony will continue with BDA Sports as his contract representation, saying, "I have retained Calvin Andrews as my agent." Anthony is in the process of searching for a marketing firm to be the lead on marketing, sponsorships and endorsements, but he confirmed that any agreement with the new firm will be on a non-exclusive basis. Anthony has hired Theresa Tran and Tease Marketing as his PR rep, effective yesterday (Tease Marketing). Tran previously served as Jordan Brand Dir of Communications. Previous reports stated Anthony and BDA's relationship was dissolving, but BDA's brokering of an extension of his Jordan Brand endorsement deal last week led observers to believe the relationship was intact (THE DAILY). CNBC's Darren Rovell noted he "spoke to [Andrews], who said he supports Anthony going in a different direction for marketing if that is what he wants" (CNBC.com, 4/2).
