Barber To Be Part Of NBC's "Today"
Show Contingent At Beijing Olympics
On Long Island, Neil Best reported NBC's Tiki Barber "will be part of the 'Today' show contingent at the Beijing Olympics." Barber's agent Mark Lepselter confirmed the Olympics assignment after being "furious about a rumor posted Sunday on ProFootballTalk.com ... that speculated Barber might be out as a 'Today' correspondent." Lepselter said of the rumors, "Nothing could be further from the truth." He added Barber also is working on projects for "Dateline," "NBC Nightly News" and MSNBC (NEWSDAY, 3/31).

LONELY SATURDAY NIGHT: In Nashville, Bryan Mullen reports the Tennessee-UCLA football game originally scheduled for September 6 has been pushed up to Monday, September 1, and will air at 8:00pm ET on ESPN. Tennessee's scheduled game for August 30 against UAB has been moved to September 13 (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 4/2). UCLA's scheduled game against Fresno State on August 30 was moved to September 27 (L.A. TIMES, 4/2)....In Louisville, Brian Bennett reports the season-opening Kentucky-Louisville football game will be played at 4:30pm on Sunday, August 31, at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium and will be televised on ESPN (Louisville COURIER-JOURNAL, 4/2).

HOCKEY HOUSEWIVES: In Toronto, Gayle MacDonald reports SoapNet will air the 10-episode first season of the hockey drama "MVP: The Secret Lives of Hockey Wives" beginning on June 19 at 11:00pm ET. The series, which "follows the on- and off-the-ice drama surrounding the Canadian Mustang hockey team and the women in their lives," was canceled by the CBC three weeks ago (Toronto GLOBE & MAIL, 4/2).
