Food Network: Ballparks Offer New Food Selections In '08

 
An automated "Hot Nosh" vending machine will be located in Fenway Park this season for "Jewish fans who adhere to strict kosher dietary laws," according to Donna Goodison of the BOSTON HERALD. The ballpark is the first client of Massachusetts-based Hot Nosh Boston LLC. The machine "sears and cooks the refrigerated hot dogs using a special infrared heating element and warms the buns before dropping them into a Styrofoam container" for $5 (BOSTON HERALD, 4/1).

RANGERS BALLPARK: Rangers President Nolan Ryan's company Nolan Ryan's Guaranteed Tender "will be providing all of the hamburger meat, prime rib and sausage-on-a-stick" at Rangers Ballpark this year. Rangers Exec VP/Business Operations Rick McLaughlin, who noted the ballpark had been looking to add Ryan's products at the ballpark, said, "Anywhere we grill hamburgers, his products will be served" (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 3/31).  

PETCO PARK: The Padres will increase the price of beer at Petco Park "with the most expensive being $9 for premium brands." The cheapest beer is now $6.50 for a 16-ounce domestic draft, up $0.75 from last season. Padres Exec VP/Ballpark Management Richard Andersen: "We don't want to do anything to encourage excessive alcohol consumption. We want people to have a beer or two if they like." Andersen added that most concessions at the ballpark "aren't rising this year" (SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE, 3/29).

 
QUICK BITES: The Mariners will open their '08 season by offering the Sea Dog, a 10-inch filet of cod put inside a bun that is described as a "hot dog for fish lovers." Also new at Safeco Field is Garlic Jim's Famous Gourmet Pizza, a new Mariners' corporate sponsor (SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER, 3/31). Campaign for Quality Services (CQS) Web site AramarkStrikesOut.info will allow fans to rank the quality of stadium food and venue management (CQS)....About 39,000 cup holders at the Great American Ball Park have LaRosa's Pizzeria decals "with instructions on how to order from the two in-park pizza ovens" (CINCINNATI ENQUIRER, 3/31).
