PGA Tour Announces Communications Department Restructuring
By Jon Show, Staff Writer, SportsBusiness Journal
The PGA Tour this morning announced a long-expected restructuring of its communications department. Senior VP/PR & Communications BOB COMBS was named to the newly created post of Senior VP/Communications, Research & Public Affairs for the World Golf Foundation, reporting to CEO STEVE MONA. Combs will move from PGA Tour HQs in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, to the foundation’s offices in St. Augustine. He managed the Tour’s communications group until late '06, when then-VP/Int'l Affairs TY VOTAW added oversight of communications and PR. As a result of Combs’ move, ANA LEAIRD was promoted from VP/PR, where she dealt mostly with player agents, to Senior VP/Communications, where she will oversee communications on the competition side for the PGA, Champions and Nationwide tours. Dir of Communications Strategy STEVE DENNIS has been promoted to Senior Dir of Communications Strategy and will work with the Tour’s publications and editorial group.
