In Detroit, Carlos Monarrez writes of the Buick Open offering PGA Tour golfer John Daly an exemption for this year’s tournament, “If you remember the Tiger-like crowds Daly and his pal Kid Rock attracted to the final round of last year’s tournament, Buick officials would be fools not to beg Daly to return to Warwick Hills in June.” Buick Golf Marketing Manager Larry Peck said of Daly, “He’s a great friend of the tournament, and he’s a huge fan draw. We found it a pretty easy decision to extend an invitation to him” (DETROIT FREE PRESS, 3/19).

Ovechkin Inks Deal To Endorse Hair Cuttery
NOTES: Hair Cuttery has signed Capitals LW Alex Ovechkin to a 6-month endorsement deal. Ovechkin will appear in print and radio ads for the company in the DC market, and also will provide autographed items for Hair Cuttery clients and may make personal appearances at DC-area salons (Hair Cuttery)….The WNBA Mystics have signed Sibley Memorial Hospital to a multi-year sponsorship agreement that designates the hospital as the team’s official health care provider (Mystics)….PepsiCo India has signed a five-year, $12.5M deal with the Indian Premier League to serve as the cricket league’s official beverage partner (ECONOMICTIMES.com, 3/19)
