MSNBC.com's Courtney Hazlett reported rumors are mounting that Galaxy MF DAVID BECKHAM, wife VICTORIA and their kids "might be heading back across the pond to their native England" after Beckham played just one year with the MLS team. A source told OK Magazine Beckham would be "very happy if someone would buy out his Galaxy contract." However, Beckham reps said that "there aren't plans for David to get out of his contract and move" (MSNBC.com, 3/11).

Swing Instructor Cuts Ties With Daly
Following Last Week's POD Championship
DALY: Golfer JOHN DALY has been "cut loose" by swing coach BUTCH HARMON, who said that he was "not going to waste his time with [Daly] who is more interested in drinking than working on his golf game." Harmon, who has worked with Daly three times this year, said that Daly's behavior at the PODS Championship last week "was enough to end the short-lived relationship" (AP, 3/11). Golf Channel’s Alex Miceli said of Daly, “There is a point where tournament directors are going to say, ‘Yeah, maybe he’s worth some extra fans, but what are we doing? ... Obviously, the Tour is going to have to take a look at this" (“Golf Central,” Golf Channel, 3/11). Daly was a “no-show” this morning for the pro-am round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational (ESPN.com, 3/12).

NAMES: AVP Crocs Tour player HOLLY MCPEAK will retire after the '08 season. The three-time Olympian has 72 career victories worldwide and is married to AVP Commissioner LEONARD ARMATO (L.A. TIMES, 3/12)....The Texas Sports HOF yesterday inducted the following athletes: RAY CHILDRESS, MICHAEL IRVIN, MIA HAMM, MIKE MODANO, SPIKE DYKES, JIM RAY SMITH, LETA ANDREWS and ABNER HAYNES (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 3/12)....MARTINA NAVRATILOVA has “regained her Czech nationality after saying she was ‘ashamed’ of GEORGE BUSH.” Navratilova, who will retain her U.S. nationality, fled communist Czechoslovakia in ‘75 to live in the U.S. (Manchester GUARDIAN, 3/12).
