Glorypark Won't Open In Time For Debut of Cowboys Stadium

Glorypark To Be Under Construction When
New Cowboys Stadium Opens In '09
Ohio-based Steiner & Associates CEO Yaromir Steiner yesterday said that the 1.2 million square foot Glorypark development in Arlington, Texas, will "not open in time for the unveiling of the nearby [Cowboys] stadium as originally planned," according to Jeff Mosier of the DALLAS MORNING NEWS. Originally scheduled to open in fall '09 along with the new Cowboys stadium, Glorypark's opening has been delayed to March 2010. Steiner said that "procedural delays in public funding of four parking garages has slowed progress." But he noted that construction of the first phase of the development is "expected to start in the next few months." Steiner added that despite the delays Glorypark "should be completed in time for Super Bowl XLV, which in 2011 will be held at the Cowboys stadium" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 3/12). Steiner said that the economy "should not affect sales and leasing efforts," and that "more than half of Glorypark's retail space in the first phase -- 800,000 to 900,000 square feet -- is spoken for by committed and leased tenants" (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 3/12).

BASEBALL PLANS? The DALLAS BUSINESS JOURNAL's Dave Moore reports Dallas city records indicate that a 5,000- to 12,000-seat baseball stadium is being "proposed as a component of the convention center hotel planned for downtown Dallas." City archives reveal that "one of the groups who entered proposals pitched a stadium to Dallas" in '06. Commercial real estate firm Jones Lang LaSalle has joined on the project with former U.S. Congressman and United League Baseball Founder John Bryant and Bankers FirstSource's Richard Seib (DALLAS BUSINESS JOURNAL, 3/7 issue).
