Hughes, Nelly Hope To Build $30M Indoor Athletic Complex

Hughes Part Of Group Building
$30M Athletic Complex In St. Louis
Cavaliers G Larry Hughes and Bobcats investor and rapper Nelly hope to build a $30M indoor athletic complex in St. Louis to "house soccer, softball, football, lacrosse and other sports," according to Mark Schlinkmann of the ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH. St. Louis-based Arizona Cos., the prospective firm that would build the complex, said that the facility would be the "largest air-supported sports complex" in the U.S.  The project would feature "climate-controlled fields with artificial turf in two inflated buildings -- each 105 feet high and with about 200,000 square feet of space, or be able to house two baseball fields apiece." Hughes and Nelly's Twin Domes LLC will submit a request for rezoning for the project later this week. Twin Domes VP Christopher Jones said the complex "will change the way outdoor activities are trained, practiced and played in the area." Jones said the rezoning request could go before the city Planning & Zoning Commission as early as April. The City Council must also approve the plan (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 2/20).
